Monitoring of the project "Transhumance - new tourism offer of Kosovo and Montenegro"

Today, on November 16, 2021, the second monitoring meeting of the project "Transhumance - new tourism offer of Kosovo and Montenegro" was held by the Joint Technical Secretariat (JTS) from the European Union (donor), the Office of European Integration of Montenegro, and the Ministry of Local Government Administration of Kosovo.
During this monitoring meeting, it was discussed about the project progress in both countries, for the municipalities of Kosovo which are covered by the project scope reported IADK, while for the municipalities of Montenegro reported RDA CBP through Zoom. During the discussion, the results and investments made in 100 cross-border area katuns were unveiled (50 solar systems in Kosovo and 50 in Montenegro). As part of the project, a signaling plan of a cross-border thematic trail has been developed which plans to connect all the supported katuns with solar systems. Due to unfavourable climatic conditions, the signalling and marking of the planned trail will be finalized during 2022. Furthermore, in Kosovo in the mountains of Istog and Peja, within the project, 4 camps, 8 rest points and 10 shepherds’ huts have been set up of in order to increase the accommodation capacity of the katuns.
In addition, the challenges faced by the project staff were discussed and the corrective measures taken to overcome them. Project sustainability and synergy with past projects and similar projects implemented by other organizations and municipalities was also part of the discussion.
Finally, the steps planned to implement the project activities for 2022 were presented.
